Bill’s playing lends a cool sophistication or lively piano bar buzz to many venues and functions across the North West. Whether you want to be quietly charmed or thoroughly entertained, Bill will make it happen for you.
Solo piano playing is Bill’s stock in trade, and versatility is one of his greatest assets. Most events of this type fall into the category of either ‘Lounge Piano’ – for drinks receptions, wedding ceremonies and suchlike – and his ‘Piano Bar’ show, great for evening entertainment. And sometimes a bit of both fits the bill.
Bill has been regular house pianist for events at many prestigious hotels around Morecambe Bay and the Lakes including Morecambe’s iconic Midland Hotel, Storrs Hall in Bowness and Thurnham Hall near Lancaster. This is a popular option to help create the backdrop to a perfect evening of food, drink and conversation. This can be purely instrumental or interspersed with the odd crooner’s classic or gentle foot-tapping swing number.
The Piano Bar show is lively and interactive, with Bill singing and playing the piano, covering everything from Beatles to Boogie Woogie. Requests from the audience are welcomed and if appropriate he can showcase guest musicians and singers from the party. This format is perfect for bars and house parties alike – Bill will play and create the party atmosphere – you provide a room full of people to sing along and suggest songs on the fly! Alternatively just sit back and enjoy the music as Bill entertains at the piano.
Bill is very experienced in playing piano for wedding ceremonies, and on request can devise a piano instrumental version of a special song for a bridal entrance. He knows many of the classic choices such as Pachelbel’s Canon in D, Mendelssohn’s Wedding March and Wagner’s Bridal March. If required he will be able to advise on choosing suitable material to play during the signing of the register, and of course the bridal exit.
Bill can also play for other formal ceremonies and celebrations as well as weddings.
